In some cases, especially during holiday seasons, you may download the QuickBooks Point of Sale software, and as you go to setup the hardware, it tells you the cd is needed for the drivers.

If shipping delays have created a situation where your cd has not yet arrived, or the cd has become lost,

You can still get the drivers for the hardware directly from Intuit’s support site:

ERROR: You Have Exceeded The Maximum Number Of Users

You Have Exceeded The Maximum Number Of Users Who Can Access The Company At One Time

If you are getting this error in QuickBooks Point of Sale there could be a number of reasons for it.  First thing to do is to make sure the POS Server has the correct number of users.  To check that follow these steps:

Questions?  Talk to our experts at (800) 609-0788.

1.  Click on the Help drop-down menu, select Manage My License and click on Buy Additional User License.  This will not commit you to anything!  Look at the line Licensed Users.  If you are supposed to have 2 users (or more) and this shows 1 (or anything less than what you should have), click Cancel and go to step 2.  If the number of users is correct, click Cancel and go to step 4.

2.  Click Help again, Manage My License and then click Sync License Data Online.

3.  Repeat step 1 and check to see if you now have the correct number of users.  If so, try opening POS again.  Problem should be resolved.  If things are working correctly, stop.  You're done.  If not, go on to step 4.
---------------------------------------------

4.  Close POS on all workstations by going to File and click Exit.  Reboot all workstations. Open POS again and see if the problem is resolved.  If so, stop here.  If not, go on to step 5.
---------------------------------------------

5.  From the Point of Sale server, right-click the Windows Start button and choose Open Windows Explorer (Explore in Vista).

6.  Click Organize and select Folder and Search Options.

7.  Click the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders and then clear the checkbox for Hide protected system operating files.

8.  Click Yes to the warning and click OK.

9.  Navigate in the left window to the location: (where XX is the highest number version you see)
Windows 7 and Vista: C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\XX
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\XX

10. Delete all the files in that folder

11. Open Point of Sale and complete the registration process again. If POS is working properly now, stop.  If you still get the error continue with step 12.
-------------------------------------------------

12. From your server workstation, search for WSActivity.xml and rename it to OLDWSActivity.xml.

13. Close and reopen Point of Sale and then try again. If your workstations open without error now, stop.  If you still see the error, go on to step 14.
---------------------------------------------------

14. Uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks Point of Sale on the server computer.

15. Update to the latest release.

16. Click Help, Manage My License and then Sync License Data Online. Click OK when it's done.

17. Click Help, Manage My License and then Buy Additional User License.  Look to make sure the number of Licensed Users is correct.

18. If that did not fix the error, uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks Point of Sale on all remaining workstations.
------------------------------------------------

If the above steps have not resolved the problem it is likely you have a firewall or network issue that is causing a connectivity problem.  You can download Intuits Point of Sale Connectivity Tool and run that to check for connectivity issues.  That can be downloaded HERE.  There are also step-by-step instructions for downloading and running the tool on that page.

 gopayment

Intuit, the makers of Quicken, QuickBooks, TurboTax, GoPayment, and QuickBooks Point of Sale, have just released the 6.0 version of GoPayment for the iOS7 on the iPad.

The major change in this release is the new fresher look to the interface.

There have been some changes made recently, like the ability to add pictures to items, and the capability to scan barcodes through the iPad camera.

As with all barcode scanners, they handle flat barcodes better than curved ones, or ones on a crinkled surface, such as candy wrappers.

If you need to edit an item, you can tap on it, then hold that item for a second to take it into edit mode. Here it can be added to favorites, marked as taxable or non-taxable, edit the name or the price.

Remember that, for security reasons, only an Admin user can edit the items.

Notice to all users of Cash Register Plus! Discontinuation of Merchant Services.

Questions on the software? Call us at 800-609-0788!

On Thursday, October 17 Cash Register Plus (CRP, CR+) 2009 and 2010 merchants were sent emails informing them that merchant service and product support for CRP will be discontinued as of November 12, 2013.

If you have not received such an email, please take note.

The Cash Register Plus program has been discontinued. While it was a workable program, one limitation it suffrered was an inability to transfer it's data to the QuickBooks Point of Sale program. This was one of the reasons the Free QuickBooks Point of Sale V10 was released.

If you are not using the Intuit Merchant Service, you may continue to use the product, but support and updates for it have ended.

If you would like to use the Intuit Merchant Service to process your credit cards, please contact us, as yu will need to upgrade to a QuickBooks Point of Sale 2013 product.

Will QuickBooks Mac 2013 and 2014 run on the new OSX Mavericks?

Questions on the software? Call us at 800-609-0788!

Preliminary testing indicates that the QuickBooks Mac 2013 and 2014 do run on the new OSX Mavericks ( 10.9). One exception has been noted in that the Contact Sync does not work at this point.

Earlier versions of the QuickBooks Mac (2012 and earlier) may function, but may have issues as they were written for earlier versions of the MAC operating system.

If you run across issues in the new OSX, please let Intuit support know.

GoPayment and Mint, for Google Glass!

Questions on the software? Call us at 800-609-0788!

Recently, Intuit, inc demonstrated it’s concept application of it’s GoPayment App on Goolge Glass.

No official release date has been announced but Intuit is looking to create the link between the GoPayment mobile payments app, and there is also discussion of creating a Google Glass app for the personal finance application, Mint.com.

Google Glass is not the only platform being looked at, as indications are they are looking to port the applications for multiple wearable devices, including smart watches.

“Intuit is looking to pursue platforms and devices that our customers will want to use,” says Cindy Osmon, senior staff software engineer at Intuit. “We’re keeping our eyes open on other wearables, but have been impressed with experimenting with Google Glass so far.”

To use Intuit’s application a merchant would ring up the shopper's items and tap a button to generate a QR code for the customer to scan with Google Glass' built-in camera. The customer taps the touch-sensitive panel on the side of the Google Glass headset to authorize the payment. Afterwards, the user can see a receipt on the Google Glass screen, which displays information above user's right eye.

“It is a paradigm shift to begin thinking about how to design for wearables such as Google Glass,” Osman says. “You really have to think about the context that the user is in – that drives what the best message is and when to convey it when designing for these types of form factors. Just like when we had to rethink desktop software for the mobile phone, we must now rethink mobile phone software for even smaller devices like Google Glass, watches, fitness bands, etc.”

Stay tuned, we will bring more information as it becomes available.
