QuickBooks Enterprise 15 can total columns on forms.

When Intuit released the QuickBooks Enterprise 15, they included a new feature.

It is not earth shaking, but it is a nice feature and capability to have.

When you are in a form, such as an Invoice, and you have several rows of data, you could in the past add a subtotal item to total up the amounts above it. It worked on the dollar amounts, and nothing else.

That has been changed. Now, when you are on the form, you can add a new Subtotal Item, and choose the column it is totaling.

What if you want Quantity totaled instead of amount.

Create a Quantity Subtotal item and choose Quantity as the column it totals.

As I had explained, not earth shaking, but a very nice feature.

QuickBooks Enterprise 15- Total on last page.

For years we have struggled with the Intuit invoices and other forms.

How nice it would be if QuickBooks Enterprise 15 could print an invoice that did not show the total until the last page of a multi-page invoice?

Well, guess what.  QuickBooks Enterprise 15 CAN only print the total on the last page!

This is a new setting.

First, open the template of the invoice or other document you are working with.

basictemplate

Select Additional Customization.

When you go to the Print tab, there is a new checkbox to Only Show Total on Last Page.

QuickBooks Enterprise 15 and Advanced Reporting, more information.

As we had explained, the QuickBooks Enterprise 15 Full Service Plan includes the Advanced Reporting module.

This is in fact a separate module that is installed by selecting Advanced Re[porting under the Reports top menu.

When you first try to open it, you may receive a message. The installation and operation of Advanced Reporting requires the file to be in Multi-User Mode.

Once the installation is complete, it will advise that it is preparing the module, and depending on the data file size and computer resources, may take up to an hour to complete the update.

Once it opens you will be greeted by the starter screen. This has a list of pre-formatted reports that can be modified.

adrepstarter

It will take some getting used to, and the formatting is a little difficult to get used to.

As an example, here is a Customer list report with transactions added.

 Clwtrns

My suggestion would be to experiment with the reporting. You can save any reports you create under a new name.

Updating data in the reports tends to be a slow process, so be prepared.

The Shortage report in QuickBooks Enterprise 15.

There was a shortage notification in QuickBooks Enterprise 14. But that has been taken a step further with the new QuickBooks Enterprise 15 version.

Now, when you try to build an assembly and you do not have sufficient quantities of the items, you will receive a warning screen.

It has changed in QuickBooks Enterprise 15, and a new selection has been added.

build_warning

View Shortage Report.

The shortage report will display  the Quantity on hand, the numbers needed for this build, and the  number of items that are short.

shortage

One thing to note:

The shortage report does NOT take into account items on order from Purchase Orders, or items on Sales Orders, that have already been reserved.

This is one area that has a potential for problems, in that you are not seeing the true picture of where the inventory stands.

QuickBooks Enterprise 15 and Advanced Reporting.

One of the benefits of the QuickBooks Enterprise 15 Full Service Plan, is the Advanced Reporting module.

To access this in QuickBooks Enterprise 15, you would go to Reports on the top menu, then Advanced Reporting.

You may get greeted by a message advising you that Multi-user mode is required.

 advanceMU

Once you have switched to Multi-user mode, and again selected Advanced Inventory in QuickBooks Enterprise 15, you will then receive a message that it will need to install ( yes, it is a separate module).

Installation will continue in the background, but once completed the module will be available.

While it does allow you to access data, getting information from QuickBooks Enterprise 15 in a way the program has not allowed in the past, there are a couple of things to realize.

Data does not auto-refresh in this module. If you are running a report, and someone else is working on the data, it will not see the change and refresh as other reports in QuickBooks Enterprise 15 will.

And since it is in fact a separate module, refreshing the data can take quite a long time depending on data file size and computer capabilities.

Will this module in QuickBooks Enterprise 15 replace other methods, like ODBC drivers and other reporting software? That is a question that only you can answer.

The other consideration with this module is that it is tied to the Annual Full Service Plan. If you do not renew the plan, the module will not work.

Quickbooks Enterprise 15- 2 new preferences that make a difference!

Questions on the software? Call us at 800-609-0788!

The new QuickBooks Enterprise 15 was released today by Intuit. There are several changes in this version, but two new preferences really stand out.

The first preference is to not sell to past due customers.

 overdue

This is a feature that QuickBooks Enterprise has really needed for some time. To block charge transactions on Past Due customers has been a feature in the QuickBooks Point of Sale software for some time, and has been requested numerous time in the QuickBooks Enterprise edition ( including by me).

The second great preference in the new QuickBooks Enterprise 15, is a setting to prevent selling items into a negative quantity.

negativeqty

Both of these preferences have been a long time coming, and I for one, am very glad that Intuit has included them in the QuickBooks Enterprise 15 edition.

QuickBooks Enterprise 15 and the Insights page.

One of the new features of the QuickBooks Enterprise 15 version is the insights page.

insights

On the Home page, you will now notice an additional tab.

insighttab

Selecting this will open the Insights page with a default set of 3 graphs, Selecting the Gear/settings icon on the right will allow you to default it to 4 graphs.

They are:

Insights Profit and Loss, Previous Year Income Comparison, Top Sales by Customer, and the fourth graph you can add is Income and Expense Trends.

insightpl

insightprev

insighttrend

On any of the graphs, your mouse pointer will turn to a hand with a pointing finger, indicating selecting that graph will bring a detail report.

Insights seems to be a cleaned up Company Snapshot screen.

Below these are income and expense graph with links to create invoices and enter bills.

How useful this is will depend greatly on the person viewing it. I will let you make your own judgment on this.
