Error H202: when hosting QuickBooks Enterprise 2015 file on a non-Windows Server.

QuickBooks Enterprise 2015 has a capability to host the company data file on a non-windows system, such as Citrix or Linux. The most common Linux used is Fedora, and there are instructions available for setting up a Linux server to host the file on Intuit’s website.

But there can be configuration issues when setting this up and trying to run it.

One issue that you may encounter is an H202 error.

Intuit has released the following information concerning the error:

The following error occurs when opening a company file hosted on a Fedora Linux or Citrix server:

Problem with multi-user hosting setup. QuickBooks could not open the file in multi-user mode. (H202)

Why this is happening

This error occurs for one of the following reasons:

When the host name of the Fedora Linux server hosting the company file is set to its fully qualified domain name. For example, [ComputerName].[DomainName].com.

You have a 64-bit version of Linux.

How to fix it

Fedora Linux

 

Intuit recommends 3 solutions for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try them all to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in order shown.

Solution 1: Add the Fedora Linux Server's fully qualified domain name to the hosts file of each QuickBooks workstation.

The steps below must be performed on each workstation that is running QuickBooks.

  1. Open the Etc folder:
    • Windows 7 or Vista:
      1. Click the Windows Start button and select All Programs > Accessories > Run.
      2. In the Open field, enter %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\drivers\etc and then click OK.
    • Windows XP:
      1. Click the Windows Start button and select Run.
      2. In the Open field, enter %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\drivers\etc and then click OK.
  2. Double-click the Hosts file. The Open With window opens.
  3. Under Programs, select Notepad, and then click OK.
  4. On the next available line, enter the Linux server's IP number, press the Tab key on your keyboard, and then enter the Linux server's fully qualified domain name.
  5. Choose File >Save, to save the changes.
  6. Choose File >Exit.

Solution 2: Edit the QBGlobalAppConfig.ini file on the Fedora Linux Server

 

  1. Open the Linux Terminal Window.
  2. Open the QBGlobalAppConfig.ini.
  3. Check the default range for ports and remove any spaces before and after the (=) equal sign.

  1. Save the QBGlobalAppConfig.ini file.
  2. Stop and restart the QBDBFILEMON and QBDBMGRN services.

Solution 3: Create a mapped drive

Create a mapped drive to the Linux server's IP address.

If you still encounter the error, go to Multiple computers receive error H101, H202, H303, or H505 when opening the company file.

Citrix

This error occurs when the Citrix server is publishing QuickBooks using client-side application virtualization.

Solution: Run QuickBooks using server-side application virtualization

Because of the complexity and number of available Citrix server configurations, Intuit cannot provide support for specific Citrix server configuration issues. If you need further assistance with Citrix server configurations, check with your system or network administrator or a local computer consultant.

 

Error 1723: There is a problem with this Windows installer package in QuickBooks Enterprise 2015.

When trying to install QuickBooks you receive the following error  "Error 1723: There is a problem with this Windows installer package"

Why this is happening

This error can be caused by a damaged windows installer.

How to fix it

Steps to resolve

1) Run the QBInstall Tool: To fix issues relating to installing QuickBooks such as 1603, 1935, 1904, and other errors caused by damaged .NET Framework, MSXML, and C++.

2) Run the QuickBooks Component Repair Tool: To fix issues relating to the program not opening, not working correctly, or if you suspect damaged Microsoft components such as .NET Framework, MSXML, and C++.

3) Run the system file checker tool to repair the damaged windows installer files.

If this does not resolve the issue, please refer to an IT professional to help resolve the issue.

The QBinstall tool, file checker, and components repair tools are all available from Intuit through their support pages. There are times where these are unsucessful due to Windows registry damage or other issues. In some cases it may be necessary to backup all importnat files to an external hard drive and perform a factory restore of the computer.

 

WIP Summary report not fixed in QuickBooks Enterprise 15.

Intuit included a new report in QuickBooks Enterprise 14, the Work In Progress Summary.

Right off the bat, we noticed a couple of issues.

If the Actual costs exceeded the Estimated costs, the program simply reported 100%.

And the report could only be run on an Accrual Basis ( which makes sense, as it is looking at unbilled time and payroll info). But the option to run it on a cash basis is not there.

 

While they have added new features and preferences to the QuickBooks Enterprise 15, my hope was that they would try to correct some of the existing issues. We will watch to see if there is any change to this in the future.

2015 QuickBooks Financial Programs Are Here!!

QuickBooks Pro 2015, QuickBooks Premier 2015 and QuickBooks Enterprise 15 Have Been Released!!

Intuit has released the newest versions of their award winning QuickBooks financial software!  The new version include some nice enhancements and new features.  Some of those include Advanced Reporting, a Shortage Report and the new Insights page.  The Insights page gives you a very clean business overview and you can print a report with all the information instead of the multiple single reports that you used to need to do.  Not all of these new features are available in all versions of QuickBooks.  We have posted, and will continue to post, more in-depth articles about all these features here in our blog.

Error 1069: Service did not start due to a login failure in QuickBooks Enterprise 2015.

When you try to start the QuickBooksDBXX service (XX stands for the year of QuickBooks), you receive the error message:

1069: Service did not start due to a login failure.

This error can occur for several reasons:

  • Corrupt QBDataServiceUserXX.
  • Disabled QBDataServiceUserXX.
  • Changed password.
  • Service is using the wrong account to log on.

QBDataServiceUserXX is a user that QuickBooks creates to authenticate and start the QuickBooksDBXX service. The service is responsible for managing access to the data in the company file. It can also cause multi user issues if it is not running properly.

How to fix it

Intuit recommends more than one solution for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.

Solution 1: Enable QBDataServiceUserXX

  1. Click on Start.  (For Windows 8 Users, right click on the Windows Logo.)
  2. Right click on My Computer.  (For Windows 8 Users, click on File Explorer)
  3. Left click on Manage. (For Windows 8 Users, right click on This PC, then click Manage)
  4. Click on the + [plus] sign to the left of Local Users and Groups. Highlight Users by left clicking on it. On the right side, you will see the users.
  5. If QBDataServerUserXX has a red X, right click on the user name.
  6. Left click on Properties, uncheck Account is disabled, click OK.
  7. Try to start the service now.

 

 

Solution 2: Change Log On to Local System Account

 

1. Click Start.

2. In Search Bar, type in services.msc and hit Enter.

3. Right click on the QuickBooksDBXX service.

4. Left click on Properties.

5. Click on Log On tab.

6. Click the radio button next to Local System account.

7. Click Apply, then OK.

8. Try to start the service now.

 

 

Solution 3: Perform a clean reinstall of QuickBooks.

Printed transactions appear to not match on screen order in QuickBooks Enterprise 15

Why this is happening

You may observe this behavior once a transaction containing items is sorted by the item column. This occurs because the sort applies only to the onscreen information. The sort is done by names as they appear on screen. QuickBooks does not print the parent name of a sub item. See the example where the first Item is Father and the second Item is Father:A Kid. The printed version will drop the “Father:” from the Item name.

Workaround

  1. From the top menu click Lists, and select Item List.
  2. Set up a custom field for an item:
    1. Double-click any item to open the Edit Item window.
    2. Click Custom Fields button and then click Define Fields to open the Set up Custom Fields for Items window.
    3. Enter the name that you want to use (for example ItemSort) in the Label field and press OK.
  3. Add the item custom field as a column to a Template:
    1. From the Lists menu, select Templates.
    2. Double-click the desired template to open the Basic Customization window.
    3. Click the Additional Customization button at the bottom of the window.
    4. Select the Columns tab
    5. Locate the row for the Custom Field you created in Step 2.
    6. Check the box on the screen column to display the field in the transaction window. If you would like the Custom Field to be included on the printed form, also check the print box.
    7. Click OK.
  4. Manually set the order desired on the transaction by using the custom field column to assign a number to each row and resorting by that column.
