I recently had a chance to talk with the people at T Sheets.

T Sheets is a time tracking application that can connect to both the desktop versions of QuickBooks, and QuickBooks Online Plus. To say that it is a time clock application is really short changing the capabilities of the application.

It does more than track time and export the time data to QuickBooks. It has a variety of features that include GPS tracking from the mobile phones, a Who’s Working dashboard that allows management to see who is logged in and doing what, job coding , and even text clock-in for those employees without the latest smart phones.

We were impressed by the capabilities of the application, and I think anyone who has been through a time audit would love the reporting capabilities of the software. It can even be configured to be DCAA compliant for those companies that are dealing with government contracts.

We were so impressed, that we signed are now offering the T Sheets application to our clients.

Error 1935 when installing QuickBooks 2015.

When installing QuickBooks Pro, Premier, or Enterprise 2015, you may receive the following error.

Error 1935: This setup requires .NET Framework

or

Error 1935: An error occurred during the installation of assembly

Why this is happening

This error can occur because:

  • Microsoft .NET Framework system files are in use by another installation.
  • Anti-virus/anti-spy ware applications are preventing installation.
  • .NET Framework is not installed, damaged, or a program is preventing the installation.

How to fix it

  1. Reboot your computer and start the installation again.
  2. If you have anti-virus or anti-spy ware software, stop it or temporarily disable it and start the installation again.
    • If installation is successful, restart your anti-virus software.
    • If the error occurs again, proceed with the next step.
  3. Install QuickBooks in Selective Startup (Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista, or XP).
  4. If you continue to receive the 1935 error, reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework and start the installation again.

Note: If the error persists after following the solutions above, Intuit recommends you consult a qualified IT professional or Microsoft as there may be damage to your operating system.

QuickBooks Enterprise 2015 Advanced Reporting OR Advanced Pricing…for now!

It has recently come to the attention of Intuit, and ourselves, that customers with the QuickBooks Enterprise 2015 are NOT able to use both Advanced Reporting and Advanced Pricing at the same time.

Apparently the activation of Advanced Pricing in a file that has Advanced Reporting will cause errors which at this time are not easily remedied.

While the engineers work on this, please be aware that you should not activate both Advanced Reporting and Advanced Pricing in the same software.

 

A neat little tweak in QuickBooks Enterprise 2015.

There is a preference that many overlook. It was there in QuickBooks Enterprise 14.0, and it is there in the new 2015 version also. There is a personal preference to turn off the in product advertising pop-ups for Intuit goods and services.

For years we have fielded complaints about the continuous bombardment of advertising inside the Intuit products. You don’t need to be reminded that Intuit sells checks, every single time you click something.

While it is not a company preference, there is a personal preference that you can use to turn off some of these “Reminders”, so they do not continually interfere.

As you have seen from the advertisements around the Intuit products, the capability to turn off these internal pop-ups is not a major feature boost that is being put out there. But the preference is there if you want it.

Go to Edit, Preferences, General.

And on the My Preferences tab, check the box for Turn off pop-up messages for products and services.

This would have to be done on each workstation, but it may ease some of the advertising shell shock most of us have felt for years.

 

Advanced Reporting has stopped working in QuickBooks Enterprise 2015.

After a recent update to the Advanced Reporting module in QuickBooks Enterprise 2015, we began experiencing an error.

 

The program had updated to version 1.4.1 as seen here.

What we found was that, if we closed the Advanced Reporting, and then tried to reopen it, the Advanced Reporting module would crash with the error:

Advanced Reporting has stopped working, windows is searching for a solution to this problem.

The Event viewer in the windows control panel showed that the fault appears to be with the Qlik0cx.ocx file.

We are attempting to provide Intuit with the information. As a result of the error, we have found at this point that a reboot of the computer is required to get the Advanced Reporting working again in QuickBooks Enterprise 2015.

We will advise you if any new information comes about.

What Is Included With My QuickBooks Enterprise Subscription?

What do I get with my Enterpise subscription?

On October 6th, 2014 Intuit released a new subscription model for Enterprise.  They've broken it into 3 different levels of subscription, Silver, Gold and Platinum.  All levels include their Full Service Plan (FSP) and Advanced Reporting which is new in Enterprise 2015.  The Gold level adds Intuits Enhanced Payroll for an unlimited number of employees.  The Platinum level has all the features of the other levels plus Advanced Inventory and Advanced Pricing.  Here is what's included in the FSP.

 

1.  U.S. Based Customer Support.

Customer support is available to help set up customized reports, managing inventory or reconciling bank accounts and more.  For answers to "how do I" type questions you can call Customer Support Monday - Friday from 4 AM - 7 PM (Pacific Time).

2.  U.S. Based Technical Support.

Technical support can help with installation, network configuration, data conversion or other     technical issues.  Technical support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  QuickBooks support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week; the Enterprise team (including our U.S.based team of product experts) is available weekdays from 4:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Pacific    Time. 

3.  QuickBooks Enterprise Upgrades.

Your subscription gives you access to the newest versions of QuickBooks Enterprise as soon as they are released.

4.  Online Backup Service.

With QuickBooks-integrated online data backup and restore service your important business data is stored off-site in a private, encrypted format on Intuits servers. You can conveniently access up to 45 days worth of backups at any time.  QuickBooks-integrated online data backup and restore service requires Internet access and an active QuickBooks Enterprise subscription.  Entire PC is limited to 100GB total storage, which includes all 45 days that you have stored.

5.  Data Recovery Service.

Intuit will help protect against problems with your QuickBooks files, recover your data if your hard disk crashes, and reset lost or forgotten passwords. With an active subscription, 2-day expedited service is available at no extra charge.  In some cases data damage may be too extensive and the data file may be non-recoverable.

6.  Advanced Reporting.

Discover untapped insights into how your business is running.  New with QuickBooks Enterprise 2015, Advanced Reporting is the most powerful reporting tool yet.  Now you can access all of your QuickBooks data to create any report you need.  Advanced Reporting provides the largest set of QuickBooks data including QuickBooks default and custom fields, system generated data and more.

7.  In-depth Online Training.

With your active subscription or Full Service Plan you will have access to a library of online training videos that you can watch when you want to and at your own pace.  Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced QuickBooks Enterprise user, Intuit has made it easy to go directly to the training topics that most interest you. From daily tasks to customized reports, you can maximize your QuickBooks Enterprise skills.

8.  Preferred Rates on QuickBooks Payments.

You may quality for preferred rates on QuickBooks Payments with your active Full Service Plan.  Preferential rates offered to new QuickBooks Payments customers only as long as they maintain an active QuickBooks Enterprise subscriber. If subscription becomes inactive, rates will be switched to the then current pay-as-you-go plan rates.  Subject to credit and application approval.

Keep in mind, this is now a subscription service and does have an annual renewal fee based on the level of your subscription and the number of users you have.
